A number of people on the forum have asked about HDMV In/Out Effects, including me.  Unfortunately, there appears not to be much known about them/it.

You can do them in Scenarist, but I don't have that.  Seeing the tutorials I found on the WEB didn't help much as Scenarist/Designer uses a wizard, so the hard parts are hidden - as they should be.

DVDLogic was kind enough to send me some sample menus with effects.  While seeing an airplane fly doesn't tell you how to build one, it lets you know it is possible.  With those examples and a lot of trial and error and error I was able to create a simple effect.

It took even less time than with the animated buttons do see that doing it manually was not the way to go.  An automated method was needed.

As I have worked on the script for nearly six months, and it has considerably more facility than I first envisioned, I was thinking about selling it - copies of it that is.  However, 'in light of the recent dark events' (Gilderoy Lockhart, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) there is no way of telling how long it will be usable.  I will give it to you for what it is worth.  If you find it useful and wish to do so, donations may be made to my eMail address (in the manual) through PayPal.

(Although I still may put it on eBay for the other users of IGEdit or anything that writes a DLIES file.)

Down load the ZIP file and unZIP to your C drive.  It contains the script (.jsx).  The manual (.pdf).  Three samples as described in the manual along with a DSA Project folder you can use to compile the samples.

The script was written in PC PhotoShop CS3.  It should run in later versions.  (I don't know Apple or have access to one.  So, I don't know if it will work there.  I think it should with the possible exception of the file names.)

I suggest you read all the manual before trying any effects.  It is not as easy as it looks, even with the script.  There are a lot of BD requirements and restrictions.

I hope you enjoy using the script more than I did writing it.  (A lot of it was enjoyable.  A lot of it was very frustrating due to the lack of information.  And JavaScript and I still don't get along well.)

Hi Paul

I run the script, my PS5.0 and see this

where this buttons why not?

Can you help me? Do you work well?

Are you saying you can't see / don't have the action buttons?

If so, it is likely your screen resolution.  As HD is 1920x1080, my screen is 1920x1200 (best for my monitor).

There is a lot of data on the screen and I don't know of a reasonable way to rearrange it.  It would likely be either too long or too wide for lower resolution screens.  (I had to make adjustments to make all the data fit in that size panel.)

I can think of only 2 solutions:

1:  Make the screen resolution larger.  I know that doing that will make things hard to see on a small monitor.  You could try something less than 1920x1080 to see if it will fit.

2:  See the Customizing the script section in the manual.  You could try making the fount size smaller.  Of course that would make it harder to see the script panels on a small monitor.

Unfortunately, I could find no way to scroll the entire main panel.  At least not in CS3.

Sorry your are having problems.  Hope this helps.

(PS: If someone knows of another / better way to fix this problem, please let us know.)

Hi Paul,

Thank You! Changing the font size in the script solved the problem. My screen resolution is 1920x1080.
