Retail Blu-ray with multiple frame-rate for Australia, any real world problems?

I'm currently working on a 2 disc Blu-ray package destined for release mainly in Australia. The supplied element are a mixed bag of 23.976, 24, 25 and 29.976 (all 1080), while the BD spec allows you…Continue

Up until the last project I've stuck to 24p encodes, I matched the SRT times to the original Prores times and everything went smoothly and stayed in sync. This time the customer wanted a 23.976p…Continue

"There's no problem with this that I know of.  In the BD spec, it's mandatory for all players to support the NTSC-centric frame rates. Only the PAL-centric ones were optional (but mandatory in those regions). In Europe, to gain the…"

The supplied element are a mixed bag of 23.976, 24, 25 and 29.976 (all 1080), while the BD spec allows you to mix the various frame rate 23P/24P/25i/29i on the same disc I'm wondering what the returns might be in the real world. The feature is 24P so I'll be frame-rate converting all 23.976 to 24, the client would prefer all the interviews to remain at 25fps so the they don't sound like they have caught…See More

Matt Stoddart replied to David Mackenzie's discussion What's everyone using for subtitle generation?
"A second vote for "Subtitle Edit", I've used it for over a year now and it is getting better and better with every update. It is now the only subtitle tool I use for DVD and Bluray authoring."

David Mackenzie replied to Matt Stoddart's discussion Adjusting Subtitle placement around burnt in titles
"Quick and cheap way would be to note the affected subtitles and add blank lines to the end of them (assuming they're bottom positioned and you want to shift them upwards)."

Peter B replied to Matt Stoddart's discussion Adjusting Subtitle placement around burnt in titles
"Why are you using an avc file as a reference for your subtitles? I'd use the source and a subtitling app that shows both source and subtitles overlayed so you know what you're doing. If, for whatever reason, you don't have access the…"

Adjusting Subtitle placement around burnt in titles

How do you do it with Dostudio Indie??? I have a programme with loads of burnt in titles/name plates and I have to add a SDH stream. The subtitling programmes I use which play the H264 file only have the subtitles in a separate window so you don't get a real-time image of where they will sit.I could import the SRT file into Premiere and identified which subtitles which need adjusting and then make an educated guess in the x-y coordinates of the DOST file.At the end of the day it was only @ 40…See More

"Matt, for maximum compliance/compatibility with old players & legacy connections you will be far, far better off avoiding LPCM altogether & using codec based audio. DTS-HD MA is one option, but be very aware of the issues of using DTS-HD MA…"

"I found this a few years ago and ended up encoding the audio track as DTS HD MA. That goes through DoStudio fine (although in this particular case we ended up using Scenarist BD for the final disc)."

Single channel (mono) LPCM import problems with Indie 3.085

I have a film where the audio track is mono, the client has asked for it to be a single channel LPCM instead of the DUAL MONO configuration. The software I encode the Prores master files to  H264 Bluray files does not allow me to export the audio in mono using the Bluray settings, I thought no problems I've just export an umcompressed 48k 16bit mono wave file and import it into dostudio.Export went fine, multiplex all good, listening back on a software player and hardware player not so good,…See More
