none of the known (at least to me) subtitling tools offers 50p subtitles. Has anybody jet done this? Is there no conversion needed from PAL subtitles?
in 1920x1080 there is no support for 50P on BD anyway.
What are your pal files? Can't you just use 25fps subs and make a new Dost file
yes, it's 720.
That is my question: what should I do if I got PAL subtle file and 50p material. I can't export 50p subtles...
I wanted to know if anybody has done that before.
If you can't use 50p, convert your video to 25p and make subtitles in 25p. Pretty simple, they'd have to match frame rates anyway.
According to the SMPTE a time code in 50/60p projects counts usually every second frame.
If DoStudio follows SMPTE the 25p based subtitles should simply work with 720@50p clips.
found this on Apple web site
On tape or P2 card, 1080i60, 1080p30, and 720p60 DVCPRO HD use 30 fps timecode. 1080i50 and 720p50 DVCPRO HD use 25 fps timecode. When recording 720p60 DVCPRO HD, each timecode number is used twice, with an asterisk used to distinguish frame 1 and frame 2 of each timecode pair. This maintains backward compatibility with SMPTE 30 fps timecode. When 720p60 footage is captured, the 30 fps timecode is converted to 60 fps timecode. To allow you to view 30 fps timecode instead of the 60 fps timecode in your media files, Final Cut Pro has a timecode display option called 60 @ 30 timecode
