Cutting the Drama Out of Blu-ray Production

Hey!

I was wondering if it's possible to play several trailers without losing the resume point of the main movie (in HDMV). I tried to set all the flags "resume intention flag" in the movie objects to 1 (which I guess would prohibe it..) but it didn't change anything unfortunately.

Is there a possibility to store a resume point and jump to that back even after other playlists/segments were played?

Cheers,

Jan

Hi Jan,

We are working hard to improve our HDMV documentation.  Till we complete this here is a diagram of how all the commands work from a players perspective.  Please use this diagram while reading the 10 different transitions that you can use.  Some of them below are designed for resume.  The player automatically stores the resume point as long as you use the correct transition below.  Please use the numbers, ie: (6) in the picture with the (6) description below.  This will show you visually where to place your Resume Command.  For example in (6) the Resume command is in the Movie Object # 5.

There are three transition types; Jump, Call and Resume. Jump is a transition method withoutexpectation of return to the current Movie Object. Call and Resume are a pair of methods that arerelated; Call is a transition method with expectation of return to a current position and Resumeenables return back to a suspended position.

Transition between Index Table and Movie Object

(1) Jump To Movie Object from Index Table

Jump To Movie Object from Index TableWhen the disc is loaded or the user calls a Title Search or Menu Call UO, and the corresponding titleis a HDMV title, playback transition of “Jump To Movie Object from Index Table” takes place and thenan indexed Movie Object is executed.

(2) Jump To Title from Movie Object

As an alternative way of branching to another Movie Object, a current Movie Object is able to branchto another Movie Object via Index Table. When a Movie Object branches to a Title without anycondition, playback transition of “Jump To Title from Movie Object” takes place; a current playbackPlayList stops, a current Movie Object is discarded and Title Search operation is executed.

(3) Call Title from Movie Object

When a Movie Object branches to a Title expecting to return back to the current Movie Object, playback transition of “Call Title from Movie Object” takes place; the current playback PlayList and thecurrent Movie Object is suspended and Title Search operation is executed

(4) Jump To Movie Object from Movie Object

When a Movie Object branches to another Movie Object without any condition, playback transition of“Jump To Movie Object from Movie Object” takes place; the current Movie Object is discarded and the“jumped to” Movie Object is executed.

(5) Call Movie Object from Movie Object

When a Movie Object branches to another Movie Object with expecting to return back to the currentMovie Object, playback transition of “Call Movie Object from Movie Object” takes place; the currentplayback PlayList and the current Movie Object is suspended and the called Movie Object is executed. This transition is a counterpart of playback transition of “Resume Movie Object from Movie Object”.

(6) Resume Movie Object from Movie Object

A Movie Object may branch to a suspended Movie Object. Only when a Movie Object is in asuspended state, this transition works. When a Movie Object branches to a suspended Movie Object, playback transition of “Resume Movie Object from Movie Object” takes place; the current playbackPlayList stops, the current Movie Object is discarded and the previously suspended Movie Object andPlayList resume. This transition is a counterpart of playback transition of “Call Movie Object from Movie Object”, “Call Movie Object from Button Object” or “Call Title from Movie Object”.

Transition between Index Table and Button Object

(8) Jump To Title from Button Object

A Button Object is able to branch to another Movie Object via Index Table. When a Button Objectbranches to a Title without any condition, playback transition of “Jump To Title from Button Object”takes place; the current playback PlayList stops, the current Movie Object is discarded and TitleSearch operation is executed.

(7) Call Title from Button Object

When a Button Object branches to a Title with expecting to return back to the current Movie Object, playback transition of “Call Title from Button Object” takes place; the current playback PlayList and the current Movie Object is suspended and Title Search operation is executed.

When a Button Object branches to a Movie Object without any condition, playback transition of “JumpTo Movie Object from Button Object” takes place; the current playback PlayList stops, the currentMovie Object is discarded and “jumped to” Movie Object is executed.

(10) Call Movie Object from Button Object

When a Button Object branches to a Movie Object with expecting to return back to the current MovieObject, playback transition of “Call Movie Object from Button Object” takes place; the current playback PlayList and the current Movie Object is suspended and the called Movie Object is executed.
